You Deserve What You Settle For

In the process of writing my article tonight, I came across this quote: “You Deserve What You Settle For”. I know there is a very similar quote from Maureen Dowd, but this one just caught my eye. I had to go write a blog entry about it haha. This is just so true. If you don’t put the effort into your health, you won’t be healthy. If you make bad decisions, you’re bound to get bad results. Everything you do in life has a following impact that can either improve yourself or set you back. Whatever you do is a choice. You can commit to being fit, being faithful in your relationship, eating the right foods, or you can sit on your ass…cheat on people you love, and eat food that kills you. Everything has a choice and you can either settle for whoever you are today, or you can make a change to be better.

Be Better.

Why waste time being someone you are not proud of. Everything takes a small step. Then a few more, then you are on your way in the right direction. I myself am no poster child for doing the right thing. I actually have done everything the wrong way and that is no exaggeration. I have made conscious and unconscious decisions in my life that have set me back more than you can imagine. I have rebelled against doing the right thing most my life.

The only thing I have maintained at a steady pace through everything is my love for others and love for improving myself. I am a thinker and a dreamer and a caring person. The people I have in my life mean more to me then anything. I have passion towards helping them because I know how it feels to feel everything. The pain, the loss, the mistakes…. I grew up in an abusive childhood but got away from it, I went through childhood depression as well as bouts of anorexia and bulimia. Most of this was caused from a rough childhood and not having an escape but today that is nothing. It is the past. I am grateful that I am alive today and happy. I can relate with so many people because I have been through so much.…but one thing I did do was MOVE ON.

I have had many bad relationships. But I learn that the only emotions you can control are your own. Why settle in a bad relationship if it doesn’t improve yourself? Why have friends that are hurtful or disrespectful? Why sit around watching television when you should be creating a life that is so wonderful and fulfilling that you forget the concept of TV?

Get outside of your excuses. Go for a run. Do something you’ve never done before. You deserve what you settle for…..SO SETTLE FOR MORE. :)

I could specifically relate to ” I have made conscious and unconscious decisions in my life that have set me back more than you can imagine. I have rebelled against doing the right thing most my life.” I guess I’m not alone after all :)
