Why I Need Yoga in My Life.

“When we think of failure; failure will be ours. If we remain undecided nothing will ever change. All we need to do is want to achieve something great and then simply to do it. Never think of failure, for what we think, will come about” -Maharashi Mahesh

Just got home from yoga.

Oh how I love yoga so much.

…To be able to let go of every feeling, every worry and just be present in that room going from sun salutations and moon salutations…I get the most incredible high from it.

Tomorrow I have yoga with the same teacher, and then barre, which is my other passion, but it’s hard on my knees so I have to force myself not to go so often.

Lately I’ve been feeling down…possibly a quarter life crisis? I’m 25 and feel like I’m not doing as much as I should. Is it wrong that I don’t want a 9-5 job the way everyone else is? I feel I’m the only one but I just like creating my own schedule. I should start planning to teach something. I would love to be a Pilates instructor, or a Barre instructor. All I know is that wherever life takes me, it won’t be behind a desk. All I want to do is travel the world, hike in different countries and inspire others to live healthier lifestyles….now if anyone has some ideas for me to combine all those things, let me know. :)

Tomorrow will be better. Yoga already helped my peace of mind. I feel lost lately and I’m not being present. I’m thinking too much about the past, worrying about the future and not showing enough gratitude for what I DO have in my life.

  • I’m grateful for my healthy body.
  • I’m grateful for my loving friends.
  • I’m grateful that my family is so wonderful.
  • I’m grateful for a job that gives me amazing healthcare.
  • I’m grateful for not owning a television and staying out of politics.
  • I’m grateful for yoga.
  • I’m grateful for my smile.

  1. Gratitude goes so far in life, and helps us move forward into more peace and abundance!

    • i agree. sometimes i forget to be grateful and recognize all the good in my life…its so important

  2. Thanks for sharing:)

  3. Beautiful post. I share your love of yoga. It always, always brings me back to myself, to the present moment. Whenever I practice, I am reminded of why I love yoga. It makes me feel so amazing. I also don’t want to have a 9-5 job. I feel the pressure to conform, to choose stability over adventure. But I just could never do that, i need to follow my heart.

    • You don’t understand how happy your comment made me. It’s exactly the same as me and I couldn’t t have it any other way. I need to do more yoga and self exploration. I see so many people conforming but I don’t see them enjoying the life they have. I going to post your comment on my blog Facebook page

      • That’s great! Yoga is an amazing path for growth and transformation. It teaches me to love myself and to treat myself and others with compassion.

  4. I couldn’t agree more! My wife got me to try yoga… I admit it’s something that I never would have tried on my own. Once I got over my awkward baby deer phase it wasn’t too bad!! Yin Yoga is especially good because of the length of time you hold the poses! What type of Yoga do you do?

And don’t feel bad about not wanting a 9 to 5 job! Just follow your dreams! (cliche I know, but still)

    • thanks for your great words again! I’m glad that she got you to doing yoga, its so good for you! I mostly do Vinyasa and Power Yoga…i like anything with a lot of sun and moon salutations. I can’t wait for class tonight.

and thank you about the cliche follow my heart:) i do not want a 9-5 job whatsoever lol

  5. I might have to try yoga. I recently started Pilates and find that it’s a great way of living in the present. Having to focus on breathing makes me forget all the negatives and stress that we sometimes get caught up in during the day.

    • if you love pilates, you will love yoga:) i LOVVEEEEE both. One of my dreams is to become a pilates instructor but yoga is amazing. you should try it

  6. I could definitely relate with this one. You’re not alone with your sentiment about being 25, not doing as much as you should, and not wanting to get a 9-5 job. When you have all these thoughts in your head, yoga is a perfect way to relax and focus on the present. This is why I love my yoga classes, too! Having a 9-5 job (stuck in a rotting desk all day) sucks, but having great outlets such as travel, blogging, workout, and yoga can help ease the boredom. At least these can buy you off more time to figure things out, and still have a healthy bank account. :)

    • thank you for your reply:) I agree about the blogging, travel, and working out and yoga being good outlets in between a 9-5 job. I think i need to just steadily work towards some of my fitness goals like instructing (which i want to do) and personal training.

  7. Tiare, we only have one life to live. It’s awesome that you have not given up on chasing the desires of your heart … the things that make your fingertips tingle and your skin get goosebumps … the things that make your heart beat a little faster with anticipation and excitement … those things that make you feel alive … like you are really living.

I will challenge you though … I don’t think you are dreaming BIG enough. Dream Bigger. And after you’ve taken a moment to let your mind dream … answer this:

    - Who do you need to be BE to accomplish that dream? Not what resources you need … but who does Tiare, the woman, need to BE?

    • I love your post and thank you. I agree that we only have one life to live and that i must follow my heart but its true that i am constantly dreaming but how must i dream bigger?? I know what i want to do and the resources to get there….i just need to truly focus on who i am. I feel like i want to do everything all the time, but not one thing. i will work on this

  8. Thanks for liking Yogatron Tiare, I dig your site.. I stopped doing yoga over the summer but need to get back into it. It’s ok you aren’t interested in the 9-5, but if it happens there’s no shame in it either, we all need to eat! And you’ll always have yoga, travelling, hiking & your other interests no matter what you end up doing for a living….

  9. Unfortunately it takes time to find what works for you in the job realm. I think you can make a job for yourself doing something you love. What do you love to do? What are you good at? Go from there. :)

  10. Yoga is such a beautiful & forgiving practice — it gives you what you need at that moment. Sometimes it’s the physical aspects of asana that draw me in. Sometimes I need it to wake me up and empower me. Other times, I need the quiet and time for introspection. And, it becomes just that. It grows with you … and it is always shifting and changing.

I like how you are exploring the benefits of so many different good health and fitness practices — reaping the benefits from all of them. Can’t wait to read more about your journey!

    • thank you for your beautiful comment! you explain the importance of yoga in so many different ways! Reading your comments makes me want to take a class from you! I’m glad you enjoy my blog, i basically try anything and everything until i find whats best for me and what i realize is all i need is yoga and barre, and i am happy:)

  11. [...] Practice Yoga [...]

  12. I totally agree with everything you said here! I’m 25 and trying to figure out my life as well…including how I am going to make a living after grad school while not giving up my love of teaching yoga and personal training, trying to turn it into a career but also not wanting to waste my degree by not getting a more traditional job. The great thing is that doing yoga somehow makes it all seem better and less stressful!
